On 10th and 11th October, the first National Convention of Cybersecurity in Hotels will take place in the Auditorio Adám Martín in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This event, organised by Ashotel (Asociación Hotelera y Extrahotelera de Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera y El Hierro), is going to be a meeting point for professionals of the hotel industry, cybersecurity and law experts, among others.

The main objective of this event is to learn ways to protect their businesses from real cyberthreats, as the hotel industry contributes 32% of the GDP in Spain and more than 30% of the employment rate in the Canary Islands.

Can you feel safe with the current methods of payment? What do you need to do if your systems are attacked by ransomware? What is the cost of complying with legal requirements?

These questions will be responded to during the conference. The hoteliers will learn about the potential cyber risks that they have to face and also, the security measures they need to introduce if they don’t want to be the next victim of a cyberattack.

Hacking hotels is a current problem right now. If you are not convinced of that, do not miss the conference called “Mistery Hacker Hotel“. It involves a penetration test performed by Raúl Siles, a security analyst of DinoSec.

Siles will become a client who identifies the vulnerabilities of a hotel, and he will take advantage of them to perform an attack.

Several institutions and businesses will participate as sponsors and partners of this convention, like Policía Nacional, Guardia Civil y Fiscalía. What is also interesting is the participation of Spanish cybersecurity institutions like INCIBE (Instituto de Ciberseguridad Español) and other technological companies like Telefónica, Atos or S21sec, among others.

Open Data Security will be at HackHotel 2017 with solutions for the most successful methods of hacking

As a cybersecurity company, which has a fast response to any security incident in the Canary Islands, Open Data Security will participate in this convention. Our mission will be to provide customised solutions for the staff of hotel establishments.

With our security training, they will know how to recognize and deal with social engineering, as it is one of the most successful methods of hacking. An email or someone asking about personal data from a client is a threat that might cost a lot to a hotel business.

During HackHotel we will also present Wolf-Ray, a solution far superior to traditional VPNs, as it is designed by our security analysts for organisations that need to protect their networks from potential attackers.
